Microsoft: Silverlight Shines: Worldwide Support By Contents Companies And Silverlight DRM Exposed

Microsoft Silverlight today announced that Silverlight is gaining worldwide support by contents companies. This announcement will boost the importance of Silverlight noticeably.

According to an announcement by Microsoft today, Some of the biggest contents companies has came for front support of Microsoft Silverlight. These companies are AOL and NBC Olympics.com on MSN, Madison Square Garden (MSG) Interactive, Tencent, Abertis Telecom, Terra Networks Operations, SBSi, MNet and Yahoo! JAPAN.

The Silverlight platform from Microsoft is aimed to deliver rich and interactive web applications.

After the announcement of worldwide support by such major media contents companies, its time for silverlight to shine and to give real and tough compition to Adobe Flash.

“It’s exciting to see broad industry recognition and rapid adoption of Silverlight across the world,” said Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president of the .NET Developer Division at Microsoft. “Silverlight offers customers and partners the highest quality creation and delivery of media, protected content, advertising and rich Internet applications, and we are committed to making it easy for partners to integrate and extend Silverlight capabilities.”
Another great step towards making high demand of Silverlight is the announcement of launching of Content Protection Support. This is a very important step taken by Microsoft in order to take Silverlight to the top. The launched of Silverlight DRM will boost the usage of Silverlight over internet. Silverlight DRM will support live streaming, on-demand streaming and progressive downloads.
