
Intel, the undoubted world leader in silicon innovation and biggest chipmaker in the world today posted strong Second-Quarter, 2008 results. The second-quarter revenue rose to $9.47 billion from $8.68 billion slightly above the analyst expectations. Operating income is $2.3 billion, up 9% and net income is $1.6 billion, up 11% compare to same quarter in year 2007.
The highlights of the results are-
Revenue up 9 Percent Year-over-Year
Operating Income up 67 Percent Year-over-Year
Net Income $1.6 Billion; EPS 28 Cents

"Intel had another strong quarter with revenue at the high end of expectations and earnings up substantially year over year," said Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO. "As we enter the second half, demand remains strong for our microprocessor and chipset products in all segments and all parts of the globe."the noticeable information is that in this quarter, both Mobile microprocessor and chipset units set records. Intel also posted high sales outlook for the next quarter.
Intel forecasts revenue in Q3, 2008 between $10 billion and $10.6 billion and gross margin of 58 percent plus or minus a couple of points.
